In our sanctuary you will have a unique experience. In a stretch of rainforest just 4 km distant from Manaus, in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, you will feel all the energy of nature and the caring presence of our associates, who will guard and guide you throughout your journey.

OUR CEREMONY
 
Our ceremony takes place in a stretch of forest 4 km away from Manaus, with access by land. The ceremony is conducted by a team from the Kaxinawa/Huni Kuin people of Acre with extensive experience with indigenous medicines.
The ayahuasca offered to the participants is prepared by ourselves following all the precepts and requirements according to the tradition and ancestral knowledge of our people, with only the two original ingredients: chacrona leaf (Psychotria viridis) and mariri vine (Banisteriopsis caapi), in the same way that was taught to us by our parents and grandparents, following an ancient tradition of our culture.
During the ceremony we offer ongoing physical protection, emotional and spiritual support, with chants and individual attention as needed, including an english interpretor.
Ceremonies usually take place at night but can also be held during the day if required.
Our aim is to provide a safe, comfortable and transformative experience for participants.

AYAHUASCA

Ayahuasca is an indigenous medicine made from a mixture of medicinal plants capable of provoking altered states of reality (activation of the pineal gland) and putting a person in contact with the spiritual world. Its effects can last about 4 to 6 hours. It has been used for thousands of years by indigenous peoples of the Amazon in healing rituals.


Ayahuasca has had its components widely studied in scientific research. This drink contains two main substances, DMT (dimethyltryptamine) and harmaline (or harmine), which act on the central nervous system, causing a change in the state of consciousness, which leads people to have different sensory and cognitive experiences, such as visions of spiritual beings and a better understanding of their own problems, feelings, fears and anxities. In addition, it is also very important to pray and also the energy state of those who prepare and serve this medicine, so that the therapeutic goals are achieved.


Therefore, it is used to treat different types of problems - such as diseases without medical explanation, somatization, dependence on chemical substances (alcohol and other drugs), depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. In addition, it can cause side effects such as vomiting and diarrhea, seen as a cleansing effect to the body.


The visions provoked by the consumption of ayahuasca are (most commonly) observed with eyes closed and, therefore, are also known as "mirações". In these episodes, the person may have visions of animals, spirits, deities, ancestors, deceased close people, etc.


The use of ayahuasca leads the person to take a deeper look at their personal issues, beliefs and lifestyle, causing a change in negative habits.


However, this type of medicinal effect only appears when the person is determined to face their problems, and cannot be used as a simple medicine that is ingested to cause the expected effect.


Although it is often labeled as a hallucinogen, ayahuasca is not included in the category of hallucinogenic drugs as per the Brazilian National Council on Drug Policies Resolution (CONAD), due to not presenting any long-term effects, nor being capable of causing dependence. Even so, its use should always be guided by someone who knows its effects well and has experience with this type of treatment.

An important note about health care in Brazil: although it is a good idea to have medical travel insurance arranged while in Brazil, please note that Brazil offers "Universal medical care" through its public health network, and in case of medical emergencies visitors to the country will be taken care of  free of charge if attending a public hospital/emergency service. The sanctuary is just 4 km from Manaus, which is the capital of the state of Amazonas and is well equipped with hospitals and clinics.
